Code of Ethics
The profession of Residential Care is dedicated to providing quality
care to the elderly and mentally challenged in a safe and secure
environment. The professional relationships between provider and
client must be governed by the highest moral and ethical values.
- Provider shall adhere to the licensure requirements of Chapter
247 of the Texas Department of Human Services Health and Safety
Code.
- Provider shall pursue licensure before the capacity of any of
their facilities exceeds three residents unrelated to the owner.
- Provider shall provide services without regard to sex, race,
color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation or political
affiliation.
- Provider shall obtain informed, written consent from a client
or guardian before releasing confidential information, except
as required by law.
- Provider shall provide a clear description of services, fees,
and billings.
- Provider shall not misrepresent qualification, credentials or
services in any written or verbal advertisement.
- Provider shall maintain their annual required CEUs.
- Provider shall adhere to the Residents Bill of Rights.
- Provider shall report any situations endangering the heath and
safety of residents to the Texas Department of Human Services
(i.e. financial exploitation, abuse, neglect, etc.)
- Provider shall not accept inappropriate residents consistent
with State standards. Also, providers should assist with relocating
residents that become inappropriate.
- Provider shall strive to assure cooperation between all of the
individuals involved in providing services and care to residents.
